Some people come in because something specific happened. Others come in because nothing specific happened and everything just feels wrong. Either way, you probably already know something needs to change. You just haven’t found the right person to work through it with yet.

I work primarily with trauma, not only the obvious kind but the version that shows up years later as anxiety, substance use, or emotions that run the show. My approach is direct and humanistic. For people ready to process trauma head-on I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy and EMDR. For people who need to feel safe enough first, I use Internal Family Systems, which is healing in its own right and not just a runway to something else.

If you’re ready to do real work, I’m ready to show up for it.

What trauma actually looks like

It rarely introduces itself as trauma

Most people don’t arrive saying they have trauma. They arrive with the things trauma turns into. Underneath a lot of these is a nervous system still responding to something that is over.

Trauma & PTSD
Single-incident or complex. Intrusive images, nightmares, hypervigilance, and a body that never fully stood down after the danger passed.
Anxiety & hypervigilance
Chronic worry and the exhaustion of always being on guard. Often a trauma response wearing a more socially acceptable name.
Substance use, often trauma-rooted
The substance is usually a solution to something: a way to manage what the nervous system could not. As an LCSW and CAADC, I treat the trauma underneath, not just the behavior on top.
Emotional dysregulation & BPD traits
Intense emotions, unstable relationships, and a shaky sense of self are frequently rooted in early relational trauma. We can stabilize the present and treat the origin.
Grief & traumatic loss
Death, divorce, estrangement, and loss that feels stuck rather than moving, including grief that carries the charge of trauma.
Chronic shame & numbness
Deeply held beliefs about your own worth, and the flatness people often mistake for depression. Both are common downstream effects of trauma.
Trauma is defined by what your nervous system did with an event, not by how objectively severe it was. You do not need a dramatic story to qualify for trauma treatment, or to benefit from it.
The work

Two honest ways in

There is no single right way to approach trauma, and being ready to face it head-on is not a prerequisite for getting real help. What matters is meeting your nervous system where it actually is. In the free consultation we figure out together which of these fits, and people move between them as the work unfolds.

If you’re ready to work on it directly

Process the trauma itself

For people who feel steady enough to turn toward the memory, we treat it at the source. This is fast, focused work, not months of circling.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)Bilateral eye movements reprocess the stored image so it loses its charge. You keep the memory, lose the grip. Many targets resolve in one to three sessions, and you never have to narrate the event in detail.
EMDR, if you prefer itSome people come in already knowing EMDR is what they want, or have started it elsewhere. I’m EMDR trained and happy to work this way. Same underlying mechanism, a different pace and structure than ART.
How ART works
If you’re not there yet, and that’s not a failure

Build safety from the inside

For some people, going straight at the memory isn’t the move. Not yet, or not ever in that form. That is a completely legitimate place to work from, and it is not a lesser version of therapy.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)We get to know the protective parts of you (the ones that manage, numb, criticize, or brace) and build a trusting relationship with them rather than overriding them. This settles the system and heals in its own right. For many people it is the whole work, not a warm-up for anything else.
Stabilization & regulation skillsDistress tolerance and grounding when the baseline needs to come down before (or instead of) deeper processing. Especially relevant when emotions currently run the show.
All trauma modalities
These are not a hierarchy. Direct processing is not “advanced” and readiness work is not “remedial.” They are different doors into the same house, and I’ll be honest with you about which one I think fits.
Trauma Intensives

For the people who run toward it.

Four or six hours of focused trauma processing in a single day, built for police, fire, EMS, dispatch, nurses, and physicians: the professions where critical incidents stack up faster than weekly therapy can clear them, and where rotating shifts make the same hour every week impossible to protect.

One protected day instead of twelve weeks of appointments
No requirement to narrate the calls out loud
No insurance claim, no diagnosis sent to a payer, no agency notification
Fully virtual, so location is never a barrier
